Welcome to MoxMonkey.com! This domain was originally registered in August of 2003 as a site to buy, sell, and trade Magic: The Gathering cards. However, Ebay proved to be more effective at buying and selling cards. With the store plans canceled, I decided to use the domain as a personal website. What is a Mox Monkey? "Mox Monkey" is the nickname for a Gorilla Shaman (see picture on right). Magic: The Gathering is a collectible card game and has been around since 1993. To allow new players or people to enjoy the game, there are several different "formats" one can play. Standard restricts decks to using cards from the last one or two years. Extended restricts decks to using cards from the last five to eight years. Only the Vintage format lets you use ALL of the cards. Some of the early cards were a little too powerful and have not been reprinted in at least a decade. That makes them both expensive and very desirable for the best decks. An example would be the five moxen:      The price for a single Mox ranges from $300-$500 US. What can a budget player do to compete with players owning all five moxen? Enter the Gorilla Shaman. His ability allows the budget player to destroy (in game terms, not literally) the Moxen quite easily. How much does a Gorilla Shaman cost? Only a quarter.
